He has great history of blackjack (it comes from France). Check out the Smithsonian for great articles on craps and dice games. You can find old game threads on 2 plus 2 that have some interesting discussion about the past. History channel casino shows tend to give a timeline. There’s some good stuff on JSTOR pertaining to the relationship between gaming and culture. The Compleat Strategyst is a good read.
