Do slot games run smoother with VSync enabled?

is wondering if turning VSync on will improve the smoothness of a slot machines on his system. He notes that VSync helps prevent tearing on other titles, but is uncertain whether this makes a difference for slots. Anyone tried VSync for casino software, and how do these games’ graphics options impact their performance?

As a slot developer, I tried VSync on all my slot games. In fairness to the feature, I don’t think it would do much for slots in general. VSync is useful if you have a lot of screen tearing in your 2D or 3D gameplay, which isn’t really an issue with slots. The 2D/3D engine is fundamentally different.

I have heard from gamers who say that it made things a bit smoother, and others who say they couldn’t tell the difference. In terms of casino software, we are more concerned with graphics card performance and driver support than anything else.

So, if you want to test it yourself, experiment with both options and see which one performs better for you. (But don’t hold your breath. Slot machines are built to run at a steady pace whether or not you have VSync on. )

VSync will not help for slots; they’re mostly static images and animations, so screen tearing isn’t a problem anyway. And it also adds some input lag, which can be frustrating. Some slot players turn VSync off to keep their game responsive. You can try leaving it disabled, since the tear-free experience really depends on hardware.

How hard can casino slot animations be? VSync is really only a problem if you're playing Call of Duty or something at 200 FPS. Slots aren't exactly intense. VSync will have minimal effect on casino slots. I tried it out on several platforms, and I didn't notice much of a difference. If you have a super computer, you probably won't feel anything at all. It's more of a hardware thing, in my opinion. Play what makes you happy!
