Can antivirus software cause a black screen in casino games?
Hello All, I was just wondering does the latest version of anti-virus software cause the player to get a black screen when playing? One of my clients said she has installed it (update) and now when she plays the game goes black. Any ideas? Does it block anything from the game? thx

Yes, Antivirus can ruin casino games and give you a black screen. The newest versions of antivirus apps have added more protection, which can prevent game files and shaders from executing. I’ve experienced this myself: Antivirus will identify some of your game files as viruses and move them to quarantine. The black screen simply means the game is failing to load its images.
For example: look for the list of quarantined files in your antivirus software. Try turning off the antivirus for a moment – and reboot! – to see if that makes a difference. Are there any exceptions for games or folders listed in the antivirus settings?
If that fails, call the antivirus vendor's tech support and give them information from the game – most of them will be willing to help. I hope this gets that customer playing again!
Yes, it’s possible for antivirus upgrades to interfere with our games. Sometimes an antivirus will incorrectly identify a game file or graphic driver as malware, and prevent them from functioning. Ask your client to check his antivirus logs to see if any of our game files or drivers are being blocked. If so, he can disable the antivirus temporarily, or add their game to the whitelist. Ensuring that all game and driver updates are installed may also help. Please get back to us if this does not resolve the issue.
Yes, anti-virus (AV) software can interfere with casino games. The AV may be deleting game files or causing freezes. Have your customer ensure that the game is on the AV’s “safe” list. Try right-clicking the game and running it as Administrator. Revert to a previous version of the AV. Temporarily disabling the AV will reveal if that’s the problem. She should never leave AV disabled permanently. I hope this helps.
And yes, antivirus updates can cause issues with online casino games. Antiviruses might interfere with game applications, or just slow them down. Ask your client to review the antivirus exclusion list, whitelist the game executable, and check the firewall settings. If this doesn't solve it, ask the client to turn off the antivirus for a moment. Don't forget to tell them to enable it again!
Yes, antivirus updates can interfere with casino games. Antivirus programs may think the game is a virus and delete or quarantine it. Your client should check the antivirus history or quarantine. If there’s a problem, white-listing the game or temporarily disabling the antivirus program will help. It’s not the solution, but rather a way to identify the issue. Make sure to turn the antivirus back on when you’re done!
