How do FPS caps impact performance in high-stakes online poker games?
Does FPS really matter in online poker? Are you more “in the zone” if you limit your frames-per-second (FPS), or are you just wasting time? Do you feel that limiting your FPS affects your reaction time or other aspects of your game?

FPS caps don’t matter for online poker, either. It’s a thinking game about human psychology, probability, and decision-making, not twitch gameplay. You can still call the right bets in 60fps.
Lowering your FPS is not going to get you into the zone. Mindset is far more important, and I’ve seen pro players perform well on 60Hz screens and 144Hz screens.
Do not fret too much about maxed-out frame rates. Choppiness in the UI may be more distracting than anything else. Also, throttling a little bit can improve your experience if your GPU gets hot during play.
Poker is played in seconds, not milliseconds. Train yourself to read hands, pick up tells, and properly manage your bankroll. If your FPS goes down, who cares? You're making money because you have a higher poker IQ.
FPS doesn’t matter in online poker. You are not reacting to moving graphics like in a first-person shooter. High/low FPS will not give you the advantage. Limiting FPS cannot get you “in the zone” – that’s a mental state, not a technical issue. Just stay focused and make good decisions. If you want to get ahead, learn more about hand ranges and bankroll management, but don’t waste time tweaking your graphics settings. KISS.
FPS isn’t important in high-stakes online poker. There are no targets to hit; no quick reactions to make. All you can do is observe, and think. A low FPS won’t impact your game – assuming there is no latency or input lag. That would throw off your rhythm. If turning down FPS keeps you cool and “in the zone, ” then by all means do so. But if you don’t need it, don’t bother. Stay in the zone, stay focused, and let the cards deal themselves.
