Which AMD drivers improve game wiki compatibility with casino game emulators?
Hi guys, I am the administrator of the casino and gaming emulator wiki. Does anyone know whether recent AMD drivers have made it any easier to run casino emulators? And do they have an impact on the number one slot machines and other older casino games in terms of performance? Any feedback would be great as we are trying to keep our wiki updated for people who want to play these games. Thanks!

I haven’t noticed much effort in recent AMD drivers (in particular, Adrenalin) to improve emulator workloads. However, some users have reported improved performance in older emulated titles with newer drivers just due to general improvements in Vulkan support. If you encounter any issue running old slot machine emulators, and hence OpenGL or DirectX 9 titles, try rolling back to an earlier driver. It is generally best to test multiple drivers before settling on one. You can check driver release notes at AMD’s website, and EmuTalk/Emulation64 are a good first place to look for reports about driver issues with emulator software. Don’t forget to keep track of this on the wiki - it may be useful for others who use your software. For those who use Wine to run Windows-based casino software, AMDGPU Pro drivers may be able to provide benefits, though they’re more likely to be niche. Check the emulator subreddits; there’s almost always someone testing all of this on a regular basis.
The AMD drivers affect newer games. The only thing that will improve the performance of old casino emulators/slots are the settings of the emulator and what GPU you have, not the AMD drivers. Yes, the new AMD drivers may provide minor improvements regarding stability, but we are talking about very old games, so please stick to the default settings. Let customers do their own research and install whatever driver they want.
AMD has not produced any drivers explicitly designed for casino emulators, but the latest versions (22.11 and beyond) do address issues in some old games. These drivers are also useful if you play newer titles that are based on DirectX 9/10 (many slots and old-time casino games fall into this category). In addition, if you’re running your emulators under Wine or DOSBox, the AMD driver’s new Vulkan features will be of great benefit to you. If you need details about particular emulators or games, let me know. I would recommend checking the release notes every month to see what AMD is tweaking.
