Can you recommend a good wiki for beginner poker players?

Hi, first time here, I’m new to poker so I’m looking for a good poker wikii that covers the fundamentals in simple terms, thanks. It would be helpful if it was part of a forum for casinos games as well.

I’d suggest visiting the PokerStrategy.com training website. There’s a nice wiki introduction to no limit Hold’em, and it’s part of a larger online community that also includes craps, roulette, and blackjack. The lesson plans are broken down into bite-sized pieces (e.g., “Reading hands, ” “Starting hand charts”); and the explanations of “pot odds” and “position” are pretty clear. If you’re stumped, you can always post your question on the message board. Please avoid the Wikipedia poker pages; they are a cesspool. Stick with the basic section and watch some of the videos. Remember, the beginner should learn about basic strategy and play lots of hands before venturing into advanced strategies. So don’t rush. Wait until after you’ve played at least a hundred hands!

The Two Plus Two Poker Wiki is a wealth of information for the novice player. It’s easy to understand, with straightforward explanations on terminology, hands rankings, and game strategy. And it’s part of an extensive online forum where experienced players discuss tournaments, strategies and casino deals. Don’t try to learn everything at once – just focus on what applies to the lowest-stakes games and work your way up from there. One bit of advice: Learn to be patient!

Check out two plus two’s Wiki for a good primer on playing poker in English. They also link to their forum, which is a great place to listen in on conversations about games in casinos. It’s easy to get started. Just learn how to play Texas Hold’em, and be prepared to ask lots of questions. Everyone started somewhere. Best of luck, and may the flop always be with you.

For example, there is a PokerStrategy wiki (good for beginners, part of a larger casino games site). It has tutorials that explain things like hand rankings, pot odds, and basic strategy. No frills, just the essentials. When you’re feeling ready, check out some of the discussion groups where people share their experiences. Best of luck!

Try the 2+2 poker wiki – it’s a spin-off of a very popular poker forum. Information is divided into short, accessible segments that are ideal for new players. Clear explanations of cards, probability, and strategy abound. And because it is a forum-related site, there is always someone at hand to help. You might begin your exploration with starting hands. It’s great, and it’s free. No bull – just good info.
