What’s the best FPS cap setting for smooth casino game streaming?
Hi all, I’m currently streaming casino gaming and need some input on FPS. What’s a good setting? 30, 60? I use twitch and want minimum lag. Any streamers or gamers out there can help me with this?

60 FPS is perfect for most casino games. Card shuffles, roulette wheel spins, dice throws, etc., benefit from the higher frame rate. Twitch can handle 60 FPS nicely these days, as long as the video buffer is enabled (which it is by default). If your internet connection isn’t great, 30 FPS is perfectly acceptable for casino games. Most card games and slot spins don’t show any stuttering when using 30 FPS. Make sure you choose the right frame rate based on your upload speed. Your bitrate should be as low as possible while still looking good in your test videos. I suggest going with 60 FPS if doing live dealer casino games – this will catch every detail of the gameplay. Otherwise, stick with 30 FPS. Tweak your encoder settings and run a few test streams in the early hours of the day (when there are fewer viewers) to find out what works best. Good luck with your streams!
For Twitch casino streams, 30 FPS is ideal: It’s fast enough that everything moves smoothly, but slow enough that you won’t choke on bandwidth and give viewers lag. 60 FPS is fine if you have the processing power, but don’t push past this unless you’re doing fast card shuffles or slot machine spins. Twitch suggests 3-6 Mbps upload speeds for 30 FPS at 1080p. Check your upload speed online, then aim for 75% of that. I’d recommend using x264 or NVENC with a preset of “veryfast.” You may also want to make a slight reduction in the resolution if there are lag issues. The less data that goes out per second, the faster and smoother it will be.
60 FPS rules casino game play streams. Twitch is built to handle it with minimal latency and it looks so much better when things are moving quickly. 30 FPS is fine too, though, as long as you have a good H. 264 encoder and use lower bitrates. That’s what most of my fellow streamers use.
