Where can I find a reliable game wiki for poker variants?

Hi there, we’re creating a wiki on casino games—do any of you guys know of a good resource/wiki for poker variants? Like one where the information is definitely right? Any suggestions of where to look?

Hi! I’m a professional casino games guy. Some sources for poker variant info are: PokerStrategy.com (great coverage of different variants, including house edge, sidebets, etc., all well-supported by tournament professionals); Pocketfives.com (good news and community-based information if you’re into Omaha or 8-Game); the Two Plus Two forums (the definitive source of information; everything posted there has been debated and discussed over many years by real people). Don’t forget the Wizard of Odds (great explanations of house edge and rules written in plain language; good for cross-reference). The only caveat is that some of their threads may be old; poker has changed a lot. If you’re maintaining a wiki, this should help you keep things straight. Feel free to hit me up if you get stuck…

Stop by the poker forum at [r/poker](https://www.reddit.com/r/poker/). Really nice people.

Another good source is the Wizard of Odds website, which has probability calculators and plenty of other information.

If you like wikis, check out [Poker Variants @ Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Poker_variants).

Throw in a few professional sites, and voila, you’ve got yourself a pretty good reading list. Don’t forget the rulebooks of the major poker leagues – such as the World Poker Tour – which tend to be fairly detailed and formal.

For most variations, Wikipedia is your best bet. The entries on Texas Hold’em, Omaha, and such are generally sound. But you’ll find gems in forums, too – try TwoPlusTwo or PokerStrategy.com or whatever; they’re full of rules that have been vetted by the community. And official game websites, for example Caribbean Stud or Let it Ride, should give you the right answers. When creating your own mini-wikis, be sure to get the information verified across several different sources to ensure accuracy. There’s also a WoP (Wikipedia of Poker) project you can add content to and help maintain.

The best source of information on poker games is Two Plus Two forums – where you will find all kinds of useful information about different types of poker. It is the original hangout spot for poker players.

This website also offers a brief crash course on poker rules; if that isn’t enough, you can always consult your local encyclopedia (Wikipedia is surprisingly good, but other sources are even better). The World Series of Poker website also contains some useful information about rules.

But if you insist on verisimilitude, tell me which installment of the series you are playing: I have a link for that one.

If you need information about a specific game, look at [Poker1. com](http://poker1. com) or [the Wikipedia entry on poker variants](https://en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Category: Poker_variants), which I think are good, well-organized resources on Texas Hold’em, Omaha, stud, etc. There’s also a user-edited resource for all sorts of games on [BoardGameGeek](http://boardgamegeek. com). Again, just remember to check the rules against a source such as the World Series of Poker or PokerStars’ official rules pages, so that you get accurate information in an easy-to-digest format.
