How can I recover my locked account on a casino game discussion forum?

I locked myself out of a message board dedicated to poker - any advice on how to retrieve it? I forgot my e-mail address, although I do know the name I gave myself on the board.

You’re having trouble recovering your poker forum password? Check out the "Forgot password" icon (which almost all forums have). You said you don’t remember your email address – no problem. Click the forgot password icon, enter in the username and follow the instructions. If that doesn’t work, try contacting support. You should be able to demonstrate ownership via the username, the dates you posted, some kind of signature or recognizable post, etc. Forums don’t want to make life difficult for legitimate users, but are also concerned about abuse. If you can’t get help in 1 day, check the subreddit for that forum. Someone else has probably had the same issue. Don’t lose your cool. The overwhelming majority of password/account problems are solved easily.

Do a search in your email box or other electronic notebooks in which you stored passwords. Failing that, there’s probably some “contact us” link on the poker site. They can usually retrieve an account if you can give them your username. Most gambling sites and poker forums have customer service departments, so just explain how you lost your password, provide any information you can about your old account, and they'll cross-check it against posts and/or IP addresses. If all else fails, sign up for a new account under a new username, then ask the forum admin to check your old username. Keep trying!

When you get locked out, talk to the website’s administrators. Nearly all sites offer a “forgot password” link, but if you don’t remember the address you used to sign up (and you can’t tell it to them), you’ll likely have to explain the circumstances in order to get access to your account (and your username). If you can verify that you are indeed the legitimate account owner, you should be able to recover or restore it. Good luck!

And then maybe use the forum's password-recovery function. Possibly it will ask for the user name (which you remember) and send a link to an e-mail address you can still access.

If not, check old emails, particularly those associated with various internet services. Perhaps you have a different address registered elsewhere.

If you don’t find it there, contact the site’s customer service and explain what has happened, mentioning that you lost your password. You may be able to recover your account if you can verify your identity.

Best of luck -- and I know that feeling all too well. Excruciating, yet surmountable.

Then try resetting your account. Because you don't remember your email but do know your username, see if there's a way to access the "recover account" feature by entering only your username. Some sites allow you to regain access to your account with just a username and an answer to a security question, or with another method such as a connected social-media account (Facebook, Twitter, or Gmail). If none of this works, contact customer service or the administrators through the site's "contact us" page. Provide your username and request assistance from them. I hope this resolves it for you! 🎰
