Any tips for speeding up the patch download for popular casino games?

Hi all, I am new here (at least on this board). We are trying to get a wiki / forum area going for casino games. We are getting asked alot of questions about patches. Does anybody know anyway to speed up patching for common games such as NetEnt or Playtech? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Another thing I did with a casino version of a game was schedule a patch download time when most of the players would be sleeping. A lot of casinos have fewer players at midnight than they do during the day, and by scheduling the upgrade to happen at this time I could avoid having a bunch of people try to download the patch at the same time. If you are doing patching for NetEnt or Playtech games, use the developer backdoors in their games to make a direct connection rather than going through the online casino's server. As a side note to those maintaining a wiki, if you allow users to upload the completed patch files directly to your wiki site (or a file-sharing service) and other users can then download from there, it makes things work a little better. Also, ensure that you don't have any old clients still connected, as they will slow down the patch downloads. If all else fails, contact the provider's tech-support team. They might have suggestions for optimizing your installation. Some even offer special bulk-updater tools.

NetEnt/Playtech patching sucks. Put the patches on a CDN instead. Compress the files that you put online and use delta updates so that you don’t need to push out large file sizes. Schedule patches outside business hours. Ensure your servers have enough bandwidth capacity. Use parallel downloads if supported by the content provider. And be open about pending patches – that way people will understand why they must sit tight.
