Do all casino games require Vulkan, or just some?

Are all casinos games Vulkan dependent, or only a few? I am curious about the impact of graphics APIs such as Vulkan on casino gaming, particularly in terms of development and optimization across various platforms. Do certain categories of casino games, such as slot machines versus live dealers, depend more heavily on Vulkan? Insights from both developers and users are highly appreciated!

Casino games don’t always have to be built with Vulkan. It’s used only for games that require top-notch performance and graphics, like 3D slots or virtual table games. Other types of games, such as live dealer games, don’t need Vulkan at all. And most slot games aren’t animated enough to warrant porting them over, especially given that Vulkan isn’t even available on some gaming devices. As a developer, I’ll use Vulkan where it provides significant benefits – and not where it doesn’t. As a player, you might not notice much of a difference unless you’re a hardcore VR casino gamer.

Vulkan is not necessarily required for all casino games – many 2D slots and basic table games can be supported by earlier versions of OpenGL or DirectX 9. However, Vulkan plays an important role in enabling high-quality rendering, such as 3D slots and live dealer streaming with rich graphics, where Vulkan delivers better performance on mobile devices and provides a significant boost to cross-platform development – an advantage for studios that want to support both desktop and mobile gaming markets.
