Why did my game wiki progress reset after updating the app?
Hi folks, so I just installed an update to the casino game app I use, and it seems to have wiped away any progress I made on the Wiki for the game, as well as all of the statistics! I had some very interesting strategies that were helping me beat Blackjack and Roulette, but now they are gone! Anyone else having similar issues with the app update?

That sucks, man! First things first, check to see if there’s a cloud backup or offline archive of your wiki and stats that you can recover. It’s common for an app to save your data on your hard drive or in the cloud (e. g. Google Drive or iCloud), so go into the app’s settings and check if it has a backup feature.
If that doesn’t work, immediately contact the game’s customer service. Updates can corrupt files in ways that erase progress if the files don’t work well together. And screenshots are evidence that you did have a game.
If you want to take precautions, save your strategies in another note-taking app or even just a Wikipedia page. One of these “improvements” will inevitably turn into a disaster at some point, and I hope they can restore your work this time – it’s a lot of effort to rebuild a working system.
Oh no, my bad – sorry about losing my strategies and stats when you updated the app. Do you have a feature to restore from a cloud backup? I didn’t see any options like this in the settings, but perhaps it’s there, and I just missed it. Or maybe it’s in the wiki? Anyway, please let me know immediately if there is a way to get those back. I’d hate to lose all that work. For future reference, I guess I’ll have to screenshot my strategies now and then, as well as export any that I really want to keep. And please advise if or when you find a solution to this problem.
The app update may have erased your local files if it wasn’t done correctly. It seems that your wiki and statistics did not get synced to their server. Look in app settings for cloud syncing or reach out to customer support. They may be able to recover it for you. For future reference, make sure to export the data or screenshot it. Update: I just got in touch with the developers. They reported to me that it is a common issue starting with version 3.7.1. The next patch is going out sometime this week. You could also try uninstalling and re-installing an earlier version to restore your work. Follow along with their patch notes for more. Got any other questions? Just ask me!
The app may have done something when it updated, such as changed its file format in a way that deleted your local data. If you only had the wikis and stats saved on the phone (not cloud-based or requiring a user log-in), then the update likely just deleted them.
look for a restore option and/or cloud sync in the app’s settings menu. If all else fails, send a message to support detailing which devices you tried and what version of the app you were using. You can also see if anyone else has reported this experience in the forums.
So next time, save the notes in a separate file or copy them to your Google Docs account.
App upgrades can mess with local files, so if it’s a big update, it might be gone. Unless you have a backup, I’d guess it’s gone. See if there is a cloud storage option or way to export your wiki. Otherwise, reach out to the developers, and ask to see if they can restore data from the server. In the future, back up those strategies to Dropbox before upgrading!
