Casino slot machines: They’re antisocial; they don’t require any skill; and you have no real strategy - just set your bet and let the RNG do its thing. Blackjack and other table games: They offer the chance to meet other humans; you get options (should I hit or stand?); and you’re able to make moves that shift your odds.

It's also easier to socialize at the tables. You can speak with dealers or fellow gamblers. At a slot machine, it’s just you versus the one-armed bandit. The odds of winning are generally better on table games than on slots. Slots are programmed to pay back a smaller amount of each wager over time. The odds of table games vary, but in general, they favor the player more than slots do.

If you like mindless entertainment, slot machines will appeal. If you want something that keeps your brain active, stick with table games. Either is fine; it’s all a matter of taste.

People don’t want to sit at tables with dealers who want them to talk to them and maybe give tips. They get bored deciding whether or not to take a hit or stay in roulette. They don’t want to bet the same amount every time just because there’s a good payout for doing that. So, slots are a game of chance; table games require skill. That’s why people prefer slots.

Casino slots? Pure gambler’s luck. Pull the handle, hope for the best. Card tables, where you play blackjack or poker? There, skill counts. With good risk control and sensible card counting, you have a shot at winning more than you lose.

The social factor is also important. While slot machines offer a solitary experience, in which you play alone, at tables, you engage with dealers and other players. The odds of winning at slots are worse, but when you win, it’s bigger. If you know what you’re doing, your chances improve when playing at tables. Honestly, though, both types of gambling have their merits: slots if you just want to relax; tables if you want to test your skills.
